KWASU CELEBRATES ONE OF HER STAFF APPOINTED AS NIGERIA AMBASSADOR TO JAPAN.


Sequel to the appointment of Professor Mohammed Gana Yisa by the President of Nigeria: Muhammadu Buhari, as an ambassador of Nigeria to Japan. Kwara State University, Malete where Professor Yisa is serving as the deputy provost of College of Engineering and Technology and the head of Food, Agric and Bio Engineering department of the same college organized a send-forth ceremony for him on the 22nd of August, 2017 at the University's mini convocation arena.

                 
The ceremony commenced at 2:26pm with the National and KWASU anthem and an opening prayer by Mr Yusuf Sulyman (PR unit, KWASU) and an opening remarks by the Vice Chancellor: Professor AbdulRasheed Olayinka Na'Allah, who didn't mince words while eloquently eulogising the global professor. Dignitaries from all walks of life graced the occasion among whom are: Former Nigeria's Ambassador to Netherlands; Dr. NimataLlahi Nihinlola Akanbi, Nigeria's Ambassador designate to Malaysia; Alhaji Nurudeen Muhammed, Commissioner for Tertiary Institution, Commissioner for Commerce, Representative of thee Estu of Patigi, Representative of the Speaker of Kwara State House of Assembly, members of the State House of Assembly, Professors and lecturers from Kwara State University, Professors and lecturers from Federal University of Technology, Minna, Permanent Secretaries and Directors from Kwara State and beyond, Representatives of NANs and KWASU SRA and students of KWASU.


From the citations given by dignitaries at different times, it was deduced that Professor Yisa is a recipient of NYSC Merit Award during his service year and also served as;
-Provost, College of Education(Technical), Lafiagi (2001-2005)
-Kwara State Commissioner of Agriculture and Natural Resources(2007-2011)
-Deputy Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly(2011-2015)
-Deputy Provost, College of Engineering and Technology of KWASU (2015-till his appointment). 





The ceremony came to an end with a closing remark by the celebrant himself acknowledging the speakers and audience. The celebrant made the audience realise his only wife; Hajia Habeebah Gana Yisa gave birth to his eight children and also managed to get NCE, B.Sc, M.Sc and Ph.D in the course of their marriage. At some point, the celebrant got emotional (sobbing 😭) while acknowledging the support of his late sister (who died a week before his appointment). A brief comment was made by Alhaji Nurudeen Muhammed (Nigeria Ambassador designate to Malaysia) followed by prize presentations from the University Management, the college of Engineering and Technology, the Department of Food, Agric and Bio Engineering and the Vice Chancellor in recognition of is immeasurable contributions closing prayer/vote of thanks was given by the LOC Chairman of the occasion; Professor Kazeem Gbolagade (Provost, College of ICT). The ceremony formally ended at exactly 6:19pm with the recitation of the National Anthem.
